The sunlight appeared through some of thew windows where Mr Umezu slept on the lounge slowly waking him up. His body felt drained and tired from his adventures from his home. He opened his eyes and turned to see Kuni and Okiku looking over a map on a table. He rose from the lounge and tucking in his shirt and put on a brown jacket that was around the house. “This should do for me,” he said to himself looking over to see what the map was about. Okiku noticed Mr Umezu was awaken and seemed more open to him than yesterday. ” Are you feeling better?” she asked him.
“Yeah, the sleep wasn’t too bad. I need to figure out where I am in terms of this world. I’ve seen plenty of different people in recent times. What’s this?” he asked pointing to the map on the table. “This is the overview of our world Blarvis, this is where we are here in the small community area here,” she noted pointing to where they were. Mr. Umezu tapped on the map and gave a eye brow raising look at the pair, “Is this really your entire world?” he asked.
“Yes it is, what’s the problem?” Kuni asked him.
Mr. Umezu patted his pants and found a lost cigar in the, he pulled one out and lit one up, “Good there’s still some left. Right, right the map. Your planet looks really small to me. These community areas I guess are like the poor sections for people like you. Half robots, half humans whatever you like to call yourselves right?” Kuni looked unimpressed with his answer, “We don’t have any money Mr Umezu as we said before. Alot of people live in this area.” Mr. Umezu noticed the map has drawings of small houses and buildings in the area where they were and in the center were tall and massive cone shaped buildings. It reminded him of being back home in the City of Demons and the divide between the rich and the poor. over 70 years ago.
“That is where the powerful live and the workers of our world are. Our government collapsed when the Kyo family took over. Hans Kyo was the father of the mega corporation that overtook the government and now controls the center. His son Neel Kyo took over like 30 years ago. The workers are pure human who are paid to build technologies like weapons, body parts for those who are injured in crimes by the poor and by the Kyo Corporation. This has been life for everyone ever since.” Kuni explained.
“So they even make money from the people they injure and hurt. This is a great place to have ended up in. It’s like being at home expect the government has all fallen apart. My world was like this and there was business’s that used weapons and sold them for profit,” Mr Umezu stopped short when he remembered that he was the one doing the terrible deeds that the Kyo Corporation was doing. He kept quiet about his own business Scienceworks. Mr Umezu looked through the cracks of the window eyeing off something suss in the area. “Where do we go today?” he asked. Okiku turned at the window and pulled back the curtain, “Over in the distance is a trade and buy market where people like us go to exchange for goods. We take stuff there and hope for the exchange of decent objects.” Mr Umezu nodded and gave pointed at her stmach, “Just wondering if you two eat at all? I know the two of you don’t need to sleep so I was wondering.”. Kuni nodded to Mr Umezu, “Yes we do eat food. Our stomachs have been untouched and is human based. Shall we go now?” he asked the pair in the room. “Yeah let’s go and see this place. This might give me a better idea of this world.”
Mr Umezu, Kuni, and Okiku wandered through the streets of the market where a number of people were trading in goods and objects for food or different technologies. Small families who were clearly trans humanist were there exchanging for food and looked quite poor. Mr Umezu watched on in the background as Kuni approached a known marketer to exchange the AI chip they stole earlier. “Morning kids how are you all going? Got something nice to sell me today?” said the marketer. “Yes we do Carto, we have this AI chip and I’m hoping it will fetch a good price for us,” he said handing over the AI chip. Carto looked at the chip and tossed his head, “I don’t think I can offer you much at all for this. It looks like a basic chip to me,” Carto replied. Kuni was upset at his response. “My sister and I worked hard to get this AI chip. I know it’s worth something,” he complained at him. Carto smiled, “It’s not worth as much as you think kid.” Mr Umezu noticed the exchange and wasn’t thrilled at the thought of being ripped off. He walked up and nudged Kuni aside, “Excuse Kuni, that AI chip is worth some pretty dollars or coins of yours. That’s a AI chip that can be used to enhance or change some of the coding inside someone’s mind and that is a useful item to have.”
“You might be right but what would you know about AI chips and technology,” Carto asked him. Mr Umezu moved close next to his face taking the AI chip from his hands, “I come from another world where I used to run a company as large as the one that controls your world. Have a look at this,” Mr Umezu said chillingly popping out his phone and showing images of himself at Scienceworks holding different objects and devices he made years ago. “Would you like one of these?” he asked pulling out a advanced code breaking device. Carto’s face changed and stood back, “You come from another world, another universe. I thought that was impossible and here you are with all of this. How much do you want for that code breaker device. You would get very good money from me,” Carto offered with a change of tune. Mr Umezu smiled back, “That’s not for sale, if you offer a good price on my friend’s AI chip than maybe we can be of good service to each other in the future.” Carto nodded and placed a bag of notes and coins on the table, “There’s a good sum there. I hope this is the start of something good for us,” The two of them smiled and Mr Umezu walked back with Kuni to Okiku. The young pair looked at Mr Umezu still very unsure on what to make of him.
“Why didn’t you tell us you were one of them?” Kuni asked pointing at the large buildings at the edge of the city. Mr Umezu sighed and looked at the pair, “I’ll tell you more soon.; I promise. I used to be like one of them but I’m not. If I was I wouldn’t alive. Let’s find some food. I’m hungry as hell,” Mr Umezu replied and the three wandered off towards the food markets.
